SMX Local and Mobile Wrap-Up

After two good days of meeting people in the industry and learning tons, yes, literal piles of excellent information, we are happy to say that SMX Local and Mobile was, for us, a rousing success.

Notable and particularly interesting speakers included the panel entitled “Ranking Tactics for Local Search.”

We were particularly impressed with the proof points offered by Steve Espinosa from eLocal Listing, who really, really wants you to check out his blog (stevenespinosa.com) and Gib Olander from Localeze, who didn’t once mention his blog.

Of course, the big winner of the day in our opinion was our own CEO, Dan Hobin.

Speaking in the panel entitled “Monetizing Local & Mobile: Who’s Making Money?” with such industry luminaries as David Mihm from, well, DavidMihm.com and Ian White from Urban Mapping, it was our media dashboard that seemed to really hit home.

The industry was excited to see specific numbers and what was working. And it was rather satisfying for us, as well. It’s one thing to know that what you’re doing is interesting and really has potential to break some serious ground. It’s another thing to see from reactions of people in your business that it really is an exciting place your company is headed.

The second day was also quite interesting, with the standout for us being the last panel of the day: “Cracking the Code: Inside the Black Boxes of Local & Mobile Search Algorithms”.

In particular, it was Jordan Kasteler from Overstock.com and Mike Blumenthal from Blumenthal’s who brought up some interesting points that made us think about how we’re going to continue to improve our reach for our customers through organic means.

All in all, it was a great show were we picked up a lot of interesting information.

Thanks SMX Crew!
